Begin to learn about pure essential oils

How long have essential oils been around? 

Since the beginning of early civilisation, aromatic plants have been used for their therapeutic properties.  Egyptian papyri and Chinese manuscripts describe the medicinal use of aromatics employed thousands of years ago.  The Egyptians placed a great value on aromatic oils and even included 35 alabaster jars for the oils in King Tutankhamen's tomb. Similarly, the Greeks attributed the invention of perfumes to the gods,  and believed all aromatic plants to be of divine origin. Additionally, there are many references to aromatics, ointments and incenses (such as frankincense, myrrh, rosemary, etc) in the Bible and Torah.   

What enables pure essential oils to produce such incredible benefits? 

The benefits of an essential oils depend greatly on the oil's diversity of chemical constituents – and not only on the existence of specific constituents but also on their amounts in proportion to other constituents present in the same oil. Some individual oils may have hundreds of individual chemical constituents.  Many of these constituents have yet to be identified.  

Although not everything is known about all the different constituents, most of them can be grouped into a few distinct families, each with its own dominant characteristics.  The Essential Oil Constituent section in Modern Essentials (1) provides greater insights into these constituent families. 

How can I learn more about pure essential oils?
